Starting a Quartet

Have you ever dreamed about being in a Quartet, but don't know where to start?  Here are some ideas for you:

  • If time permits, sing in pick-up quartets after chorus rehearsals to get the feel of what it is like to sing with 3 other people.
  • Go to a Region 1 Fall Regional Weekend or Spring Regional Weekend and attend a Mix & Match class.  This will give you an opportunity to sing with women beyond just your own chorus.
  • If you already found 1 or 2 people to sing with and are looking to add another person to make a quartet, send an email to the Region 1 webmaster to put a Quartet Member Wanted ad in the  Classifieds Section of the Region 1 website to help you find that person.
  • Consider going to a RQA Day - The Regional Quartet Association Day is an opportunity for quartets to learn from the coaches that are brought in specifically to focus on them and is attended by not only quartets, but also people who are interested in perhaps being in a quartet someday.  Read the Quartet Patnership Agreement presented by Kim (Hulbert) Vaughn at RQA 2013 (you must first be signed into the Members Only side of the Region 1 website to see this).

  • Quartet Name Search
  • Quartet Registration/Renewals & Fees
  • New Quartet Registration
  • Quartets (Renewal)

As you will see from reading the New Quartet Registration section (above) To become an active, registered Sweet Adelines Quartet, you must first register your quartet's name online thru the Members Only section of the Sweet Adelines International website (note - you may need to login a 2nd time to see this)

This will require that you have chosen a quartet name as well as 2 other alternate name choices if your prime choice is not available.  You will be asked for the quartet contact information as well as names and Member ID# of each quartet member, as well as the chapter name, region for each person.  You will be able to pay online at that point for the quartet registration using Visa, MasterCard or Discover and the fee is currently $80.
